How often do I need to worm my pet?
Puppies and Kittens need worming more frequently than adult pets. Worm every TWO WEEKS from 2 weeks of age until 12 weeks, then monthly until 6 months old. Pets over 6 months can be routinely wormed every 3 months.
Why do I need to vaccinate my pet?
Vaccines are very effective in preventing death and severe illness due to certain contagious diseases. They have been useful in reducing several infectious diseases from spreading further and have almost eradicated some potentially fatal diseases.
Every year pets of all ages become seriously ill or die from infectious diseases such as parvo virus in dogs which could have been prevented by vaccination. 'Prevention is better than cure' is very true since there is no specific treatment for some diseases. Treatment is often lengthy, expensive and not always successful.
What is Parvo Virus?
Parvo causes severe bloody diarrhoea which is usually deadly. Infected dogs spread large numbers of virus particles through their diarrhoea that can be quickly and easily spread between dogs and farms. The virus can then survive for months in the environment. Puppies (under the age of 6 months) have the highest risk of parvo infection but any unvaccinated dog is at risk.
