Vets on Alabama offer one of the best facilities in Marlborough for dealing with all types of equine health issues. With the advantage of paddocks behind the vet clinic, there is the ability to offer services such as AI, with additional facilities available, meaning you are able to bring your horse to us or we can come to you.
We will have a locum vet starting with us on the 17th Dec for 6 weeks.
Ameliah hails from a station in outback Australia. She has worked as a mixed dairy vet in Victoria and has also completed an equine internship.
She can scan mares, assist foalings, remover retained placentas, collect and evaluate stallion semen, geldings, conduct lameness examinations, treat colics, X-ray, ultrasound/scan tendons, dentals, scoping. Pretty much everything short of specialist surgery. Can also do hernia surgery in the field.
Not only is she capable with horses, she is also a capable cattle vet and is an accredited pregnancy testing vet (in Australia).
When she isn’t at work Ameliah enjoys riding horses and flies airplanes! She admits that it may be time to find cheaper hobbies, so while she is in New Zealand she plans to make the most of the scenic hiking and the good food there is to offer.
